The 3579 loop
For the maths lovers, click here for a loopy little mp3 (144K) called 3579. It's all vocal with no effects. And here's how it works. Over a 2 bar beatbox loop (32 semiquavers), I sang up a major scale to the octave, doing four notes on each scale degree (32 notes), separated by 3 semiquavers. (I'm bashing my lips with the mic to get the articulation). It takes 3 times around the loop to fill all the semiquavers. I recorded 4 loops of this (in Protools) and then repeated the process in 5s, 7s and 9s. In Protools, I then edited them together. I was kind of random with my pitch each time, hence the wonky modulations. It's the result of mucking about with Matt Ledger and Derek, my loop recorder. You can hear people chatting in the background of the 3 loop, but sadly they shut up after that... I like the party vibe!
